My Encounter With Del Potro

August twelfth, ‘09 was a bright, sunny Wednesday morning in Montreal. Since I was working at the Rogers Cup, I got admission to the grounds and had specially asked for the day off so I could go see all the professionals’ practices. It was indeed a rich schedule with the best 10 competing all the way through the day.

At eleven that day, a pal and I headed over toward Court 4 where the world’s No.1, Roger Federer, was due to arrive at 11:30am. Already jam packed with roughly a few hundred people, there was hardly any room to move.

Buying A Table Tennis Table

This article is for new or intermediate Table Tennis players who are buying a new table tennis table or wish to upgrade, we will be talking about what you need to look for when buying a table tennis table.

spend your money wisely!

All of the vendors will be trying to convince you that their table is the best thing for you! So you must get it clear in your mind exactly what you need from a new table. Not many people have unlimited funds so you must choose wisely, ask yourself do you want to enter national comps or play for fun with your mates in the basement.

The hard-hitting, erratic, net-rushing player is a creature of impulse. There is no real strategy to his/her game, no understanding of your game. He will make brilliant coups on the spur of the moment, largely by instinct; but there is no, mental power of consistent thinking. It is an interesting type of character.

Tennis seems to have changed a lot over the years. The style of play is a lot different to what it used to be like and the racquets have changed a lot too, I suppose a lot of the change seemed to occur around about the Eighties.

If we look back to the Eighties, especially the Tennis players of that Decade, there were a lot of brilliant players, some are now household names, let’s just take a look at my favorites from that Decade.

Tennis Psychology (Part 1)

Tennis psychology is nothing more than understanding the workings of your opponent’s mind, and gauging the effect of your own game on his/her head and also understanding the psychological effects resulting from the different external causes on your own mind.

However, it is also true that you no one can be a successful psychologist of others without first understanding his own mental processes. Therefore, you must study the effect on yourself of the same thing occurring under various circumstances. This is because people react differently in different moods and under different conditions.

Tennis Basics

I expect that this initial effort of mine into the world of letters will find a place with both novices and experts in the tennis world. I am trying to interest the student of the game by a somewhat prolonged discussion of match play, which I trust will cast a new light on the game of tennis.

I will turn to the beginner in my opening article and write of certain matters which are second nature to the experienced tennis player. The best tennis equipment is not much use to the novice even if he really is trying to succeed. Nevertheless, one has to purchase good quality; it is a saving eventually, as high quality material far outlasts poor quality equipment.

How do you define insanity? Well one way is to describe it is to repeatedly do the same actions but expecting a different result each time, very much like playing tennis in fact.

Playing tennis is very strategic, and if you find your self losing in quite spectacular fashion, is it time to change your tactics.

The problem is that too few do that and end up the loser. If you have a game plan that isn’t working you have change it, simple as that.

The Australian Open once again got the tennis year off to a great start and whetted out appetite for the forthcoming season. The master they call Roger Federer once again lifted that famous trophy, sending out a warning to all his opponents that he’s still the man to beat.

There again, it’s still very early in the season, and way too early to write anyone off yet. Look at the surprises last year threw up, a prime example being Juan Martin Del Potro winning the US Open title by beating Federer in the final.

The red clay that is used as the surface on a tennis court originated right back to the origins of the game. If you play tennis yourself, you have been privileged to have a game on this famous surface. The history of the red clay court is particularly prevalent in Spain and the home of the only major played on clay; France.

This is a unique surface and makes the style of play completely different from other surfaces. To actually play on clay is an exhilarating experience.
