Rafa Nadal – The New Star

Sometimes called ‘Rafa,’ Rafael Nadal is a local of Spain who has made a massive impact on earth of tennis.

Born June three, 1986 in Manacor, Mallorca, Rafael Nadal is the son of Sebastian and Ana Maria Nadal.

Standing 6’1′ and weighing 178 lbs, Rafael Nadal turned into a professional tennis player in 2001 after having played since four years old. Fans shouldn’t let this young age trick them as Rafael Nadal nabbed his first championship at just eight years old.

Under the guidance and teaching of Toni Nadal, his uncle, Rafael Nadal started learning to play tennis extraordinarily early in life as is evident from his early championship.

Toni, who remains Rafael’s coach, is a particularly crucial thing about this kid’s success.

In 2005, he won 11 titles and also caught recognition as the ‘Most Improved Player’ for 2005 as named by the ATP.

In June 2006, Rafael Nadal won his second Roland Garros crown and also scored his hundredth claycourt career victory.

Anybody that watches women’s tennis can not fail to notice the advances in game over the last 30 years or so.

Women seem to be a lot stronger and faster in the sport lately. Here is my opinion of who I think are the top 7 players since 1980 in women’s tennis, in reverse order.

7. Venus Williams, one half of the famous Williams sisters, Venus has got a remarkable record of Grand slams under her belt, including her wins at Wimbledon, but it is mainly her rivalry with sister Selena that always has people on the edge of their seats.

6. Justine Henin, probably the most potent women’s player at her peak, she did retire early last year but has since announced a comeback. Lets see if she can dominate both the Williams sisters as she had done before her retirement.

5. Monica Seles. She was only young when she won her 9 Grand slams but unfortunately was stabbed in an unfortunate incident. Since then she has not been able to recreate former glories.

If we rewind by a few years in the women’s tennis world, we’ll arrive at a time where Justine Henin was the world’s best female tennis player. Not only was she the best, but she was rather dominant.

Suddenly, Henin decided to call it a career during the summer of 2008. Many were shocked by this revelation, as there was simply no reason for her to retire. After all, it’s not as if she was slowing down.

Her retirement had everything to do with the fact that she simply grew tired of the lifestyle that comes with that of a professional athlete. The training and the grueling schedule had taken their toll on this champion.

This would allow her to focus on both her charity work and her tennis school, as she took pride in training the many talented young kids who came to her school.

Rafael Nadal Parera, nicknamed “Rafa” has taken the tennis world by storm in the past five years. He has fast made his way through the professional tennis circuit and has had a phenomenal streak of wins. This Rafa biography, takes a very brief look at just what this young man has managed to accomplish in that short space of time.

Rafa is now ranked as the second best singles tennis player world-wide. He has had sixty consecutive tennis wins on the clay-courts and as winning streaks go, this is quite remarkable.

Born on 3 June 1986 in Manacor, Majorca, Spain, he has a sporting background. His uncle Miguel Angel Nadal played professional football when he was only 15 years of age and played for F. C. Barcelona between 1986 and 2001.

Most of my articles focus on the state of men’s tennis, but I’d like to talk about the women this time around. Many believe that it’s the biggest women’s sport in the world, and I would agree.

Women are faster, stronger, and harder working in the world of professional tennis and we’ve been lucky enough to see some absolutely great players. Here are the 7 best since 1980, in my opinion.

Coming in at number seven on my list is Venus Williams. In her late 20s now, she’s been in pro tennis for 15 years and she’s simply been phenomenal. With many grand slam wins and a firm grip on Wimbledon, she’s one of the best women to ever play the sport.

While Venus Williams is a legend, Justine Henin was just a little better. Beating Venus on many occasions, this small Belgian warrior has 9 slams. The difference between Henin and Venus is the fact that she won these over a 9 year period.
