Often everyone is watching for the return of serve standing flat footed and in a stagnate position. By utilizing our split step prior to make the return we will get started to move and remain more dynamic within motion and stroke to commence the point.

A split step is known as a ready step that gets you straight into a balanced and available position. You will be making a small jump forward and land with both feet approximately shoulder width apart and assend by means of your toes. Both hands must be in ready position with the hands with the grip for two handed backhand players or maybe your dominate hand over the grip and non-dominate hand on the throat for one handed backhand players. This way you are prepared to adopt both a forehand in addition to a backhand without having to slide your non-dominate hand around wasting precious time.

Anybody that watches women’s tennis can not fail to notice the advances in game over the last 30 years or so.

Women seem to be a lot stronger and faster in the sport lately. Here is my opinion of who I think are the top 7 players since 1980 in women’s tennis, in reverse order.

7. Venus Williams, one half of the famous Williams sisters, Venus has got a remarkable record of Grand slams under her belt, including her wins at Wimbledon, but it is mainly her rivalry with sister Selena that always has people on the edge of their seats.

6. Justine Henin, probably the most potent women’s player at her peak, she did retire early last year but has since announced a comeback. Lets see if she can dominate both the Williams sisters as she had done before her retirement.

5. Monica Seles. She was only young when she won her 9 Grand slams but unfortunately was stabbed in an unfortunate incident. Since then she has not been able to recreate former glories.

There are a handful of different tennis court surfaces. Each one has its own unique set of attributes, adding an interesting element to this already exciting sport.

The most popular surface in the world at the moment is the hard court. This is typically a green or blue court with painted lines and a concrete surface. You’ve likely seen it at the US Open and many other events.

What are some of the unique attributes of hard courts, and how should the game be played on them? Here are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind.

The ball moves really quickly on hard courts, and you’ll be in for a surprise if you typically play on clay courts. Those who excel in the serving department always enjoy the advantages of this surface, as fast serves will be even harder to hit back.

As far as baseline play goes, hard courts don’t really work for or against people with this strategy. This is a good thing in many regards, as it won’t ruin your chances of winning a match should you choose to stay back. Hard hitting can be an asset here.

If we rewind by a few years in the women’s tennis world, we’ll arrive at a time where Justine Henin was the world’s best female tennis player. Not only was she the best, but she was rather dominant.

Suddenly, Henin decided to call it a career during the summer of 2008. Many were shocked by this revelation, as there was simply no reason for her to retire. After all, it’s not as if she was slowing down.

Her retirement had everything to do with the fact that she simply grew tired of the lifestyle that comes with that of a professional athlete. The training and the grueling schedule had taken their toll on this champion.

This would allow her to focus on both her charity work and her tennis school, as she took pride in training the many talented young kids who came to her school.

Most of my articles focus on the state of men’s tennis, but I’d like to talk about the women this time around. Many believe that it’s the biggest women’s sport in the world, and I would agree.

Women are faster, stronger, and harder working in the world of professional tennis and we’ve been lucky enough to see some absolutely great players. Here are the 7 best since 1980, in my opinion.

Coming in at number seven on my list is Venus Williams. In her late 20s now, she’s been in pro tennis for 15 years and she’s simply been phenomenal. With many grand slam wins and a firm grip on Wimbledon, she’s one of the best women to ever play the sport.

While Venus Williams is a legend, Justine Henin was just a little better. Beating Venus on many occasions, this small Belgian warrior has 9 slams. The difference between Henin and Venus is the fact that she won these over a 9 year period.

Seriously, why are things this way?

When Steffi Graf dominated the tennis world tennis lovers did not enjoy it. When the Williams sisters had been squashing anyone on her path to the championship, fans did not enjoy it. And currently when titles are up for grabs? Supporters do not appreciate this.

The majority admit that the Williams duo tower over the competition the majority of the time. Although injuries and diminished non-Slam tournament schedules spell they currently play against one another before the title match. Although again allow us to bear in mind that just a year or 2 ago the above-mentioned gripes about this frequent battle in the championship and their governance over the rest of the athletes.

So now we have Dinara Safina holding the top place in the ranks and the US Open seeds. And what do they indicate? She hasn’t earned it because she hasn’t yet won a Grand Slam (also she’s gone down in a couple grand slam title recently.) Although she’s making slam finals and she is quite entertaining along the way, in the tennis world and in her personal life.
